We understand that the death of a child is a deeply upsetting event. If your child died in Québec, the Directeur de l'état civil will inform us. No further action is required from you. If the death occurred outside Québec, please call us to inform us. The death of a child affects the Family Allowance and (if applicable) the Supplement for Handicapped Children.

We will continue paying your Family Allowance during the quarter in which the death occurred, regardless of the frequency of the payments. No claim will be made if an overpayment is made after that quarter.
